Actress, producer and New York Times bestselling author Candace Cameron Bure is continuing her work as the Fight for Good Celebrity Ambassador for the 129th Red Kettle Campaign.
Candace Cameron Bure is known for her role as D.J. Tanner on the popular sitcoms “Full House” and “Fuller House.” Viewers also watched Candace as a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars” and as a cohost on the Emmy-nominated series “The View.” Her eighth Hallmark Christmas movie, “Christmas Town,” premieres on December 1.
Candace is married to former professional hockey player Valeri (Val) Bure and is the proud mother of Natasha, Lev and Maksim.
Candace experienced firsthand the impact of The Salvation Army’s services as the 2018 Celebrity Ambassador. During the year, she visited the Los Angeles Red Shield Youth & Community Center to learn how the Army breaks the cycle of poverty and inspires the next generation. She also stopped by the Bell Shelter’s culinary school and farm near Los Angeles to serve alongside the GrowGood culinary students.
She recalls the experience in a recent interview. “It’s been really eye-opening, because you see people who face everyday challenges, and it’s hard for them to get out of their circumstances,” she mentioned. “So many people today are faced with multiple daily challenges that make it hard for them to make ends meet. They’re deciding between things like paying electric bills to keep the power on or medical bills to keep their children healthy. That’s why I feel blessed to be in a position where I can shine a light on the many unique ways that The Salvation Army is helping give people hope and a second chance at living.
“Being a mom myself, it breaks my heart to know there are parents struggling to put food on the table and who, during the holidays, also have the added pressure to provide Christmas gifts for their kids. I hope each person who donates to The Salvation Army understands how important their contribution is. It’s a Christmas miracle for thousands of families. It’s food for the hungry and shelter for the homeless all year long.”
As the Celebrity Ambassador for the 2019 Fight for Good Campaign, Candace will conduct media appearances and visit Salvation Army services to experience the unique ways the Army assists the millions of people living in poverty across the nation.
“The Salvation Army gives kids the tools to thrive and really look past those circumstances and achieve their dreams. And as a mother, that hits home.”Candace Cameron Bure
